Today I received word from The Portsmouthfreunde in Duisburg that they have begun to plan for the 70th anniversary of twinning between our two cities.
They are looking to organise a series of events in Duisburg for the end of May to the end of June 2020. They would like to invite singers, groups, performers over from Portsmouth to participate (and possibly may send performers here in a similar time frame) - So we are looking for initial interest at the moment. Any groups, singers, performers who would like the opportunity to perform in our German Twin City of 70 years at their anniversary celebrations.
They are also looking for Portsmouth people to come and celebrate with them...
I cannot offer any financial support at the moment, but if we establish people want to go, we can organise some fundraising events between now and next April to ensure some sort of help is available to those who'd like to take part, but for whom it would be financially difficult.
