Here is one of Germany's New Year Traditions....
Dinner for one originally made for NDR in 1963 in English. This sketch is repeated every 31st Dec and is watched by around half the population of Germany. It is repeated across the channel 3 networks throughout the day so you can generally catch it at some point!
In 2016 a new version was made by Netflix Germany. Austria and Switzerland.
This is so popular in Germany that I found many gifts and trinkets based on it in Mayersche in Duisburg, during my visit there at the beginning of the month!
