A reception with the Lord Mayor


As the chair of the Caen-Portsmouth Friendship Committee and speaker of German, I was today invited to the reception held at Portsmouth's Guildhall in honour of the visit of our friends from Duisburg.

We were welcomed into the Guildhall by the Lord Mayor and treated to "Kaffee und Kuchen". We were then taken on a visit of the main chambers where the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress hold their functions.

The Lord Mayor Cllr Ken Ellcombe and former Lord Mayor and City Councillor, former Portsmouth North MP and Freeman of our city Syd Rapson took our guests on this tour talking to them about the office of Lord Mayor and offering many interesting anecdotes about our city's wealth of history.
